Marketing Module: Shared Fields & Option Values

Summary

The Marketing Module is host to a variety of Shared Fields and Option Values that can help organize your data. In this article, we'll discuss what fields are shared between the three Marketing objects, and how best to utilize them.

Certain fields can be Controlling or Dependent. Controlling Fields act like the parent field to another shared field. Dependent Fields are conditional upon the Controlling Field.

For example, the field Regions is the Controlling Field to Branches, which is the Dependent Field.

How to Create Shared Fields for Marketing Objects

  1. Click Settings in the side navigation

  2. Click Marketing in the top navigation

  3. Click Shared in the sub-navigation

  4. Click the plus (+) icon for the Fields table

  5. Write a Title

  6. Select a Type

  7. Select the Project Detail View Tab/Section (if applicable)

  8. Select the Request Detail View Tab/Section (if applicable)

  9. Click the Submit button

How to Edit Shared Fields

  1. Click Settings in the side navigation

  2. Click Marketing in the top navigation

  3. Click Shared in the sub-navigation

  4. Click the title of the shared field you wish to edit

  5. Click the pencil () icon to edit Title, Type, Description, or Default Help Text

  6. Click the Submit button

Note: When talking about Marketing Module shared fields, only custom fields can be deleted. This applies to Project, Request, and Campaign fields as long as the company has custom fields turned on, the user is an Admin, and the field is not being used in any workflows or forms.

Project and Request share custom fields, so deleting a shared custom field from either one will automatically delete its matching shared field in the other. Built-in fields cannot be deleted.

How to Create Option Values for Marketing Shared Fields

Now that you've created some Shared Fields, you can add some Option Values to those fields.

  1. Click Settings in the side navigation

  2. Click Marketing in the top navigation

  3. Click Shared in the sub-navigation

  4. Click the title of the shared field you wish to add to

  5. Scroll to the Values table

  6. Click the plus (+) icon for Values

  7. If this is a Controlling Field, you will only be able to edit the Option Value Field

  8. If this is a Dependent Field, you will be able to select a Controlling Field Option Value, and edit the Option Value field

  9. Click the Submit button

How to Edit and Delete Option Values for Marketing Shared Fields

  1. Click Settings in the side navigation

  2. Click Marketing in the top navigation

  3. Click Shared in the sub-navigation

  4. Click the title of the shared field you wish to edit

  5. Scroll to the Values table

  6. Click the title of the Option Value you wish to edit

  7. Make your edits to the fields

  8. Click the Submit button

  9. To delete, click the checkbox(es) next to the Option Value title

    1. Click the drop-down () arrow in the column header

    2. Select Delete

List of Shared Marketing Module Fields

This is a list of all the default Kadince shared fields that cannot be deleted from the system, even if you are an Admin.

  • Departments

  • Items Requesting

  • Mediums

  • Products
